Not Shakespeare, not revolutionary, but nice to have it written down.
A-holes as defined by Sutton are people who 1) consistently belittle and insult coworkers and 2) treat their superiors markedly better than those lower on the totem than them. And yeah, lots of people are like this, and lots of people strive to be like this, and the American Dream demands this, so um, it was refreshing to be reminded that workplaces actually work better when people are nice. And that if you are in a crappy work situation because of bullies it is ok to detach and avoid as much as possible until you can get out.

Was not comprehensive or psychologically deep, but it actually had the reverse effect of making me think about the great, supportive, and career-affirming bosses and co-workers I've had, and made me think about how I could work better to be a good one myself. So yay.

Also this was the best part: http://bobsutton.typepad.com/my_weblo... . Read it please.
