This is one of those books people seem to either love or hate, and I'm on the love side. It reminds me a lot of The Catcher in the Rye, only more satisfying. I felt like Catcher in the Rye kind of petered out at the end, but this book just kept getting stronger.

It's a classic for a reason. This book is tackling all the themes we've come to expect in a dystopian novel, but in an eerily accurate way. It's scary to think that this book was written before Facebook really took of, and yet predicts a lot of the ways we interact with social media. Definitely creepy. It's quality, I think, stems from how disconnected the main character is from what's happening to the world. He's lost in his own reality of advertisements and teen drama, while the world is slowly crumbling around him. It's powerful because it lets you see so little of what's going on. In that way, it's also kind of stifling, but intentionally so.
