Seems like there's a lot of beautiful language in here, but at the same time ... the part that I've read of this (only the very beginning) has reminded me just how many sad things happened in under the Tudors. (Mostly thinking of the reigns of Henry, Edward, and Mary, but Elizabeth was not completely exempt.)

Reminds me a little bit of The Gods Are Thirsty by Tanith Lee. (The "add book" function doesn't seem to be working just now.)
