Hm. It took me two tries to get through this one. I think the first time I was just too busy, it didn't have anything to do with the book itself, however I did find the first half of the book rather slow. Once I reached the last 150 pages or so I didn't want to put it down. I read it because I saw the BBC movie, which I loved. I have to say I like Margaret better in the movie. That rarely happens for me. The Margaret in the book got on my nerves with all her uppity, condescending behavior. And I know that's the period and how it probably was, but that doesn't mean I have to like her. I certainly felt a lot more sympathy for John in the book than in the movie.

In the end, I liked it and would probably read it again, but not for a while.
