As teenagers, Poppy Carlise and Serena Gorringe were both experiencing first love, whereupon a tragic event ensured that their lives took very different paths. Years later, following her release from jail, Poppy sets out to discover the truth about what really happened that grim night, twenty years ago. Serena, on the other hand wants no-one in her present to discover her past. If they do, she will have to relive a part of her life that she wishes to stay buried, even though it continues to haunt her on a daily basis.

I dare you to put this book down. It is gripping and a complete page turner. It's a mixture of crime and romance. The story is told from two different perspectives - Poppy and Serena's, and as the complex story of manipulation and brutality unfolds, you find yourself drawn to this beautifully written story, desperate to see it's conclusion.

I loved this book, but I had figured out who must have done it before the end, and did wonder why this angle was not pursued. However, I did have to remind myself that this was the story of two fifteen year old girls, who had effectively been brainwashed by a very sick, but clever predator. When I checked myself, I thought that yes, now I know why they didn't go there! Fantastic book.
