A book of short stories set in Botswana villages, many of which focus on the juxtaposition of tribal tradition with Christianity and/or city life. Head writes in a matter-of-fact style which makes even horrible events seem inevitable. These stories felt tender and distantly sad... for me, a good introduction into African literature.
