Much better than "The Red Pyramid," but not quite up to par with the best Percy Jackson books. "The Lost Hero" is an exciting return to Greek (and now Roman) mythology. Unlike "The Red Pyramid," this book features a cohesive, unconvoluted storyline and characters you can actually care about. Riordan remarkably ties in the new storyline quite well with the other Percy Jackson books. So much so, in fact, that you probably shouldn't read this series without having read Percy Jackson. It's not really a stand-alone series, which is by no means a bad thing. And what an ending! Now I'm dying to read the next book...
