At first, I thought this book was going to be so bad it crossed the line back into awesome. Fairies make a modern American woman travel to 15th century Scotland, where she has no problem understanding their speech and, in fact, can put on a convincing enough brogue that no one realizes she's actually from New Orleans. Also, she's forced to marry the hottest man who's ever lived, whom no woman has ever refused, but she thinks she is immune to his charms because a man who once treated her poorly was handsome, and therefore handsomeness is a bad thing (not the cheating and lying performed by the man. No, it was his handsomeness).

And yes, all that is so bad it's awesome. Unfortunately, the book actually takes itself seriously, and once those first 50 pages or so of ridiculousness are over, it has nothing to do but try to play out the romance with a straight face. It does not work.

I may be ambivalent about Moning's Fever series, but there's certainly a lot to like about it and it's proof the woman can actually write. Here...not so much. Avoid.

Regina Zosia, I couldn't stand this book either. I have found that most people don't like books 1 and 2 -- and then skip ahead to 4. ;)
