It sounds like life was quite miserable in San Francisco in the mid 1800's. The overall story was good, although I read it a couple of weeks ago. I am now finding that it was somewhat forgettable. I'm trying to remember what all happened.

This book was frustrating in a way. I got so tired of Rachel's sister rebelling. I agree Rachel needed to work on her acceptance, but I agreed with a lot of her beliefs. I hated seeing her own family turn on her the way they did.
