Read from October 14 to 19, 2010

This is the fourth and final book which I will read about wealthy, art-loving families in the early 20th Century. The books were mentioned by Michael Dirda in his review of "The Hare with the Amber Eyes.'
'Out of Egypt' is a beautifully written book about a large Jewish family in Alexandria. It would be a much better book if it were half as long. The author has written with affection about his somewhat eccentric relatives; unfortunately there is much repetition.
