The entire Harry Potter series really just combines two longstanding YA/children's tropes: Orphan-Discovers-Magic-Powers-And-Fights-Evil + Horrors/Adventures-of-the-British-Boarding-School.

Entertaining, but nothing special. This book mainly serves to verify the standard plot to be followed throughout the series. Only true evil would so continuously attack around finals.
