Read from October 13 to 23, 2010

I almost always accurately predict the next turn, twist and conclusion but I happily acknowledge this was not the case with Dante's Journey. Even when I was certain I knew the response Dante would finally give to THE question posed to him throughout his journey, I was surprised to find myself wrong. What a treat!

Marino skillfully develops an intertwining of characters from past and present. Though when presented with less skill, several ancillary 'mini-stories' (if I may refer to them as such) risk distracting the reader from the primary character, Marino successfully weaves them into Dante's plight with supportive and synergistic threads. They culminate with Dante's arrival at his goal and you realize the importance each played in Dante's awakening. And then........enough said. I don't want to spoil it for those still reading.

I look forward to the next novel from this author.
