Dang. What an effective marriage of text and art in the service of a hard story. I can imagine middle school students reading this, and Neri is powerful without using vulgarity that might make it a risky acquisition for Junior High collections. But the questions raised by the story are deep enough for much older readers. Simple enough to be read in under an hour by even struggling readers, this is a book that will stick in the heart and mind for much longer.

Debra McCracken Agreed--a great, provocative read--but I gave it 5 stars!
