Have you ever experienced reading and enjoying it, until the author says something, which is quite unforgiveable that it destroyed almost everything?
Well, I did. Susan Elizabeth Phillips had done that mistake.
One of the characters of the book described a pug, UGLY.
I love pugs.
How can this pug be ugly?

Pugsley, my pet dog, God bless his soul, is really adorable. How could anyone call him ugly?
And now, Pugsley is crying.

But despite my seething anger, I continued on, chanting She called a pug ugly again and again. But obviously, the chanting didn't work. I still loved this book.
How could I hate it, when I was still up 3am in the morning, trying to finish it? And, pray, tell me, how I could hate a book with a hero who has a British accent? That got me all weak in the knees already.
Speaking aside, the story is cute and the happily ending well deserved. The bantering of the H/h is refreshing. The dialogues are all witty and humorous. I was laughing loud so often, I thought the doctors are going to take me away.
The plot, though not actually unique, (the heroine had three ex-husbands and was a mean ass is high school) is still good, since Susan Elizabeth Phillips added tons of new stuff to it, that it became an original.
I should also mention that this book taught me that it's never too late for love. Despite all the heartaches that can come my way, we should never close our doors. And also, it's never to late to ask for sorry.
This book is 97th on the All About Romance Top 100 list. And I'm wondering why it isn't any higher.
BTW, Susan, I forgive you for saying that a pug is ugly.

However, I think Pugsley does not. He takes things quite seriously. He is deeply hurt, thus, the frown.

Thank you Ronyell. He's adorable. He was pampered well when he was still living. Pugs are really good pets. They don't bark much and they're very very sweet and easy to teach. :D
That's great to hear! I usually love dogs that are sweet and well pampered! It makes it easier to get along with them! Tell Pugsley I said hi! :)
You could tell him yourself. He's in heaven already. So I'm sure he would get the message. But yes, Pugsley was very agreeable when he was alive. :D
Hmm, he was really weak but I brought him to the vet a couple of times before his death. Then my sister was waking me up, then I just knew. He was gone. Vet just said that he might be sick internally or something. I was weeping like a baby. When I think of him, it makes me sad and happy at the same time. He was a really wonderful dog. :D
Oh, that's so sad Jasmin. I know what you went through because I used to have a black labador (sp?) and one night, he was choking on a bone when we were all still asleep and my dad found him the next morning and told us that Samson, that was our dog's name, had died. So that was definitely a sad day for me and my sisters because we were so close to Samson the dog.
Review complete with pictures...Whodathunk? LOL. Great stuff! You've raised the bar for writing reviews ;)
@ronyell, I remember me crying over him just as if it happened yesterday. I took his paw and was shaking it. I told him to wake up. That's sad about Samson. But I bet we made our pet's days on earth worthwhile. @jessa, thanks! :D
Well, we had another labador named Snowpaw, but somehow he ran away and we suspect that the neighbors next door might have taken him. >:( Well, my dad suspects the neighbors took him, but I think he just ran away somewhere....Hmmm...what a mystery! :)
OMG. Your pug is so cute! I have been begging my mom for a dog, but the answer is always no. And I have been laughing for some strange reason since you named your pug, Pugsley. Anyways, I'm so sorry that Pugley is gone....
@Ronyell, I hope snowpaw is in good hands. If he's with the neighbors, you would have heard him barking. Maybe he got lost. But as I said, I hope he's taken well care of.@lekeshua, thanks! :D
@michelle, I'm very creative with names. XD If I had a female pug, I would have named her Ladypug. XD Maybe when you're older, she would give you one. Thanks again. He's in a better place now. :D
Great review, Jasmin! This is one of the SEP's I still haven't read yet.Awww...Your Pugsley was adorable, Jas! I love the photos.
Jasmin and Ronyell, I'm so sorry for your losses but I know your dogs were very well loved.
Thanks Ate Jayne. He really is adorable. Especially when I ordered him to "sit" and he lays down. But he has these really cute eyes that speak depths when they look at me.
I miss my dog! T_T
ppfff!!, funny review Jasmin!sorry to hear about your Pugsley but I totally understand you, I'm more of a big dog kinda girl, I love my Camila, she's a BIG rottweiler and I don't know if people would call her "cute" but I think she's beautiful... you know, on the inside!
ha ha ha
I just started this book and so far it's quite depressing, I was gonna stop and was looking at some of the reviews to see if it was worth my time... after reading your's I think I'll keep going.
Thanks!
Thanks Lili! It's sad to part w/ pets.
But I like big dogs too. I think Rottweilers are great dogs. As long as I don't have one chasing me. They're really loyal dogs and great at giving protection, right? :D
I hope you enjoy this one, because I sure did! :D

I've heard about Rotties being all scary and stuff but I think mine is broken... if you've got any food she'll melt for you.
And once she got kicked out of her dog house by a little cat.
Seriously, she's a disgrace for the race...
