This book is my favorite of the series so far. Eugenie continues with her shaman work in Tucson while still living part time in the Otherworld as the Thorn Queen. In order to end a war that was begun by Leith's mother after he was killed for kidnapping and raping Eugenie, she goes on the quest for the Iron Crown. As usual, Dorian doesn't tell her the whole story of what the crown can do and when she finds out, she over reacts and takes some drastic measures.

I was happy to see Kiyo back in the mix, but not happy with the outcome of his involvement (I am a fan of Dorian). Kiyo's true loyalties are shown though by the end of the book. I was also happy to see that she and her sister, Jasmine, are beginning to develop a relationship.

The ending is a cliff hanger and I'm sad that I'll have to wait probably a year for the next in the series to come out.
