I thoroughly enjoyed this book. When I was in sixth grade, I read the Sword of Shannara for the first time. I loved the world, and thought it was interesting and the characters well made. When I went back and reread it years later, it seemed... well, neither as creative nor as well written as I'd remembered. It made me sad that I couldn't revisit the fantasy world created in my sixth grade mind. That's why I'm so pleased with this book. I feel the way visiting this world that I did the first time visiting that fantasy world. It's sort of a grown-up version, better told, classic fantasy story. And in this case I don't mean "Contains copious rape and violence" when I say grown-up. I just mean more mature, more fully fleshed out.
