I picked up Suzanne Brockmann's ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT: A Troubleshooter's Christmas at the library this weekend and it was a great surprise. I'd never read any of the series and had no idea what a "Troubleshooter" was. However, when I read the blurb, I knew I'd check it out.

Cover Blurb: "It’s Christmastime in Boston, and this year the silver bells will be wedding bells as FBI agent Jules Cassidy ties the knot with the man of his dreams, Hollywood heartthrob Robin Chadwick.

The pair plan a quiet, intimate ceremony, to be witnessed by family and close friends from the FBI, SEAL Team Sixteen, and Troubleshooters, Incorporated, including Sam Starrett and Alyssa Locke. But the holiday season brings more to the happy couple than they expect.

A waterfall coming through their kitchen ceiling, a bat colony in the attic, old family tensions…even an international incident can’t dampen their spirits. But add to that a parade of unexpected guests, including a reporter looking for a scoop, an ex-lover hell-bent on causing trouble, and a dangerous stalker, and suddenly the wedding is poised to unravel in chaos.

But nothing will stop Jules and Robin from getting their happy ending, because along with a guest list featuring the most elite counterterrorism force in the world, they have their own secret weapon - true love." End of Blurb

If I hadn't read the inside, I would've thought it was just another straight romance, but, nope, it's all about a gay wedding between two very unlikely partners, a exNavy Seal security guard and an actor, who's both a high profile celebrity and a recovering alcoholic. I have to say I really enjoyed the parts about Jules and Robin and would give it 4 out 5 stars. However, it did have some drawbacks. One, it was on the edge of sappy at times. It changed point of view a little two often for my tastes. Third, and the most important, the story about the reporter Will, whom I really disliked, and their personal assistant Dolphina distracted me from the main story. Still, it's worth reading.

The other thing I found very impressive was the author's note where she explains why she added Jules, an openly gay character to her series early on, and why she's donating every bit of the profit from this particular book to MassEquality, an organization dedicated to preserving gay marriage rights in Massachusetts. I plan to buy a copy after I return the the book I read to the library.

Writerlibrarian I'm up to this one actually. It's in my to-read this summer pile. *g* Most of her romance are good. Really. Some are really good. You can check out the reviews on which you might want to read. Me I read in order so I started with #1 and is making my way through. *g*

Grey853 I'm not much into romance unless it's gay romance, but I do love Jules. I was really pleased that this was so good and that it was mainstream. I hope she writes more about Jules and Robin beyond the wedding.
