First line: "Since the dawn of time one question has dominated all others: Zombies or Unicorns?"

This was a hilarious compilation of short stories featuring either zombies or unicorns. It is essentially the ultimate battle between pessimists and optimists. The stories are written by a wide range of young adult authors, including Garth Nix, Carrie Ryan, Scott Westerfeld, Meg Cabot, and Libba Bray. I thought all of the stories were excellent (which is rare for a short story collection). They ranged from funny and sarcastic through dark and gritty. It is edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier, who began the debate of Zombie vs. Unicorn online in their respective blogs. If you would rather stab yourself in the eye than read about either zombies or about unicorns, the stories are handily coded so you can skip over the ones you would find painful. If you're in the mood for something a little different or looking for something that can be read in small chunks, give this one a try and I promise you won't be disappointed.
