Puke puke, and triple puke. I was feeling quite violent towards this book a time or two. First of all, human hero. Boooring. Whatever. It started out good, but soon got slow, then evolved into boring and borderline painful. Let me say I hated, HATED Le'Ace. She sucked big rotten apples. She wasn't annoying or too big for her britches, but she was majorly flawed and revered for it. Big and bad and oh so misunderstood. Minor spoilage from here. She kills people, admits to killing INNOCENT people - men, women, children - to save herself from tortuous pain inflicted by her owner via a computer chip implanted in her brain. Um, hello, hero's don't kill children to save themselves. And then accept boo hoo sympathy because she was "forced" to do these terrible things. There is always a choice. And Jaxon so loved her and sympathized so greatly for her. How out of character is that? If there is one flaw with these AIR agents, it's that they kill without a trial, without hearing anyone out. And yet because she had a reason, it's ok for her to kill innocents. Hello? Hypocritical are we? And the absolute icing on the cake is that Le'Ace draws the parallel of the Schon doing exactly EXACTLY the same thing she's been doing - knowingly killing other people to alleviate tortuous pain - and instead of sympathy, or even an attempt at trying to help them, she admits and agrees that they have to be killed for their actions. Again I say, Hypocracy anyone? This is why I hate H A T E Le'Ace. Then she pulls the "me so vulnerable" card about sex because she CHOSE to seduce people for sex rather than be punished. Is that force? Yes. Does it leave the same fear (just because it's somebody she's choosing to have sex with) of being touched? Hmm, doubt it. So now I have to listen to Jaxon as permission for every touch and sexual move. Can I kiss you now? Can I touch your breast? Can I remove my penis from my pants? He might as well cut it off while he's at it. Puke.

I also didn't like her teatment of Mia. Or how Mia, who was so tough before now fights like a kindergartener.

I did like the whole Schon thing. I wish more had been given to developing that idea. Instead, we sat with Jaxon as he recovered from being an invalid and worshiped Le'Ace for her courage, even though she chose herself over other every time. And how even she admits she'd kill Jaxon if ordered, changes her mind in like, the space of a day, and yet Jaxon gets mad at his friends for doubting her. Big. Fat. Whatever.

Really, (in case you haven't guessed it yet), Le'Ace is what killed this story for me. It was slow at times, mainly while Jaxon was recovering and absolutely nothing was happening except disgusting Le'Ace stuff. If the plot had been more action involved, it might have been ok.

The next in the series looks far better. And I hope Le'Ace is not even mentioned.
