Wow! What more can be said about what unbelievable feats a human body can accomplish. Though I am by no means anything more than a simple recreational runner, I found Karnazes' personal challenges to be way beyond my comprehension. I understand somewhat of hitting a wall after a few miles, but cannot fathom continuing on for another one hundred when every inch of my body is begging to give up and in excruciating pain. This book is overflowing with tests of amazing endurance, without the typical hype and boasting. Just imagining observing a runner balancing a large supreme pizza on top of a full-size cheesecake in one hand while eating four slices of pizza rolled into a makeshift burrito all while plodding down the road is reason enough to read on. Despite one's fitness level or lack thereof, any reader can gain something uplifting from reading this book.
