Intense and beautiful. Anderson is so good at writing books about difficult teen issues from the inside. I might compare her skill to that of Chris Crutcher. They are both geniuses at this stuff. But I have only read 2 of Anderson's books, so I need to get some more under my belt. One thing I wasn't always sure about was her use of italics. Whatever they signify hasn't become apparent to me yet. As far as other text and grammar formats Anderson uses in this book, I think the strikethrough and the backslash technique do a nice job of portraying different aspects of the narrator's struggles.
