I have read other books by Lemony Snickett, and I have enjoyed them. This has much of the same style of humor, which may be the problem. In the course of a story (like the Series Unfortunate Events), and quirky little nugget of goofball humor or wry observation tucked here and there is welcome. In this format, you're force fed only "nuggets" - I think I just need a little salty with the sweet. I think it's cashing in on the name because the guy's going to sell books at this point, no matter what crap he writes. Thank goodness my library invested in this one instead of me.
