Gone Tomorrow (Jack Reacher, #13)
by Lee Child
by Lee Child
I picked this up as a quick read hoping my wife would be finished with her kindle by the time I finished. She has a book on hers that is the next in the "Girl/Dragon Tatoo" series.
For those who miss Ludlum, Child comes close as a replacement. There is constant action and (sometimes) gruesome detail (I guarantee that after reading a millisecond by millisecond account of the ballistic and gas overpressure effect on an individual who suicides by placing a barrel under the chin and firing, you will never even think....even in your darkest hours...of going out like this. Lee does miss with his weapons designations (a Sig P220 is NOT a 9mm), and seems to think the 9mm parabellum round can do no wrong, but I chalk that up to some arcane personal choice, since the rest of his research is impeccable.
Clues are fed to Jack and gang in a plausible manner, and the plot is entertaining. I may need to read all of these.
