Read from March 03 to 09, 2011

i give the author credit - i think i could see what he was trying to accomplish with this book: young people are addicted to technology, what's the line between real and virtual, what makes a human a human, etc. instead, it too often veered into the territory of "hey, teenage boys are HORNY!" while leaving these issues behind. he touches briefly on this idea that the "companions" can choose their own destinies and make choices about their bodies but it gets brushed over by unnecessary relationships and scenes. that being said, i wish i had my feminist reading hat on while reading this because it definitely deserves one. maybe some other time.

also, i could see a lot of the plot twists coming right away but that didn't bother me as much.
