really liked it

A time travel adventure in the spirit of Phillip K Dick.
Powers definitely did his research on this one. The way he wove history with his narrative was engrossing and quite frankly intimidating.
It started slow, and was pretty slow throughout, but there was enough going on to keep me reading.
The characters alone were enough to keep me reading, like Horabin the Clown and Romanelli/Romany. The magic system he created, with sorcerers giving up their link to earth(and therefore needing to avoid its touch-Horabin wore stilts and Romany wore spring heeled boots), was one of the better ones I have read.
I highly recommend this book, as long as you can handle a slow start. The prose is easy to read and the narrative engrossing.
