it was amazing
bookshelves: adult, historical-fiction
Read from October 04 to November 08, 2010

The epic tale of two cousins, Joe Kavalier and Sam Clay, who take the comics world by storm in the 1940's when they create "The Escapist", using Joe's talent as an artist and knowledge of escapism, and Sammy's talent for knowing and telling incredible back stories.
Told in stunning, comic book like detail, Chabon never skimps on description. Everything is lush, deep, and juicy. Fact's sprinkled in throughout the text (generally about comic book history, and the depth of Joe and Sam and other secondary characters, give the story a sense of reality. The most bittersweet ending to a book that I've read in a long time.
