The High King of Montival (Emberverse, #7)

Well written, and I'm still very much interested in where things are going. The characters are fun, even if a bit too perfect at times, and the setting is still very well put-together. My only complaint, really, is that as the series moves away from exploring the new status quo I find my interest in the world itself waning.
The original Novels of the Change were about the world falling apart, apocalypse and survival and rebuilding, and the first few of this new bunch were about taking a look at what that world was like 20 years down the line. Now, though, that is done in large part and while there's not very far too go it's the story and the characters themselves that have to carry the series the rest of the way.
And, while they're good, I don't know if they're going to be as good (to me at least) with out that sense of discovery and curiosity driving them.
We'll see!
