A 700 page book about writer's block! Pretty structurally complex, and I liked the idea of the different notebooks. It was a fairly interesting glimpse of politics (communism), psychoanalysis and feminism in 1950s London. I found it hard to relate to or care about any of the characters, though, and was frustrated with Anna by the end. The feminism presented in the book seemed really dated to me. And the book seemed like a bleak commentary on heterosexual relationships. I was disappointed in the ending.
