This is an introductory short story to the Wolf Breeds series in "The Breeds" continuum. Detailing the mating and troubles between Wolfe and Hope, daughter of the scientist who created Wolfe, and a sadistic, cold, unfeeling human being through and through. My greatest criticism is that it is a short story. These characters are strong and had a right to be full developed and given their own story that is more than just a few pages long. However, like all Leigh books, it is a great read and filled with the passion and angst all her Breeds stories contain. The plot is part of the ongoing tale of humans altered with animal DNA, but their story is human to the core.
