"Deadline" by Chris Crutcher was an inspirational book because, Ben and 18 year cross country runner, has found out that he is dying. The doctor has found a way to cure him through treatment but he refuses. In fact, he refuses to even tell his parents. He goes through a tough time including him trying out for the football team, and quitting his cross country. He will soon find out that he all did it for a good reason.
I think he's a brave and stupid kid because he knows he's going to die, and he can get cured, but he refuses? Who would do that! And he also doesn't tell his parents about it either. I think that he just wants to be remember not as the boy who is dying, but he wants everyone to treat him the same and go out remembered for something. Remembered for something that is bigger than him. He just wants to be remembered as Ben Wolf, senior class, cross country and football star who died trying to make his mark on his school. And I think he's really brave for that.
