After coming close to abandoning this book a third of the way through it, I have decided it was the perfect book to be reading while recovering from eye surgery. The print is fairly large and there is plenty of white space on the pages. The broad outline of the plot is fairly predictable. The characters are engaging, perhaps excepting the shark grub. The monsters are elegant. The humor is often droll. The execution of the predictable plot has imaginative features - Non-Existent Teenies, the dual-personality, talking sword/knife, the Metal Maiden, and the Dead Yetis. Good fun and probably worth 3 and a half stars.
