Read in January, 2004

I'm not usually a fan of those "theory of everything" kinds of books, but Jared Diamond gave a pretty compelling case that world social and historical trends can be explained, at least in part, by geographical accident.

I was also impressed by his grasp of diverse fields. While I wouldn't take this as gospel truth, his theories to seem to have a fair amount of support.
