This enchanting story is set in the late 1800's in Japan. The detail is so rich and captivating that your are completely drawn into the characters' thoughts, moods, and intentions. The level of human understanding the author displays, the many different types of love described, and the realness of the characters amazed me from beginning to end. I want to read it over again just to capture all the minute details I might have skimmed over the first time. It also includes many historical facts about Japan at that time, as well as about the fascinating art of the tea ceremony.
