At 15, Allie Emerson has her fair share of problems, like any average high school freshman. Bullies, misfit friends, embarassing living situation... and a guardian spirit guide? After an accident involving electrical currents from a TV antenna, a ladder, and flatulent bull, Allie is unexpectedly magically inclined. With help from Trilby, her straight-from-the-60's spirit guide, Kizzy, the eccentric and loaded town witch, Junior, the unexpected love interest, and a very pretty necklace, Allie eventually takes charge of her life and her new life skills and learns that she's not as alone as she thought she was.

The characters here are predictable and one-dimensional and those clumsy attempts at deep interaction fall short. While the storyline itself has promise, the storytelling just was not good enough to flush the whole thing out. I don't think I've been pulled in enough to care what happens next, but I might be willing to at least give it a shot as the potential for a good story is there; it just requires some serious improvement on the author's behalf to bring it to life.
