Aways writes an amusing tale and Dog Tags is no different. A German sherpard who is a retired policedog has taken up a life of crime with his owner, a veteran of the Iraq war and a former policeman. Injured in an explosion in Irag he would have been assigned desk duty because his injury caused his leg to be amputated. The dog's owner is convicted of a crime and Andy tries to get his dog spring from tight security. During the course of his defense of the dog he gets tied into his owner's defense too. Something much bigger than a war crime happened in Iraq & he and his team make it their mission to find out the truth.
