Beauty and the Beast have always been one of my all-time Disney favorites, so of course, I was curious when I came across this book.
First, I was not disappointed, it is indeed a modernized, re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, complete with all the "castle", the roses, Linda's ("Beauty") father the way how she was given/offered to "Beast" and supporting characters (I could even imagine Magna as the modern Mrs.Potts).
I always enjoyed when the narrator is from the point of view of the male protagonist, Kyle/Adrian, for that matter. I could empathize with him, you would hate him at the start then towards the end, I found myself crying with him. I liked how Linda's character was written, she's just right.
Inspite of what other reviews had said, I think the ending is good and NOT cheesy or sappy... This is a fairy tale after all, the setting is just the present, so definitely we want that happily-ever after. =)
