Power Down is a first rate thriller. It keeps you turning the pages, anxious to see what will happen next. The author is very skilled at keeping the reader interested by focusing on key individuals and their stories. The character of the reluctant hero Dewey Andreas is well presented. A man with extraordinary combat skills, but many personal issues he needs to overcome. He functions best when he has only time to react, no time for doubt to cloud his thinking, but once he attacks, beware, he is a pit bull who will not stop until either he or his opponent is unable to continue.
I thought early on I understood what the title, Power Down was about, when an offshore oil platform and an electric power generating facility were destroyed by terrorists. OK, petroleum and electricity are both major sources of power and these were knocked out...... I was pleasantly surprised however by a second meaning for the title near the books finale. I really enjoy an author who slips in unexpected bits like this. If you like political thrillers that are fast paced and full of action, this is the book for you.
Thanks Good Reads for another First Reads win!

Liked your review of "Power Down" Coes can really write a thriller, can't he? I just hope no terrorists get any ideas from the book.
Please check out my blog, it's mostly mysteries and thrillers. You might like it.
