Heartwarming, happy, fulfilling.

Charming ,witty, fun, romantic story. So enjoyable, it kept me up past my desired bedtime. She is one of my favorite authors. Story brief: The President dies in office. His wife is asked to continue the job of first lady for the vice president who is single. She doesn't want the job and uses a disguise to escape the White House and travels as an ordinary person. While traveling she joins Matt who is driving for several days to deliver two orphaned girls to a relative. The girls are Lucy age 14 and Button a baby. Lucy has a significant role in this book. She is the main character in the sequel “The Great Escape” where she is 31.

Narrative mode: 3rd person. Story length: 376 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words, but rarely used. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: about 4. Setting: current day US. Copyright: 2000. Genre: contemporary romance.
