really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, young-adult
Recommended for: Mortal Instrument fans
Read from September 08 to 09, 2010 , read count: 1

This was the long awaited prequel to The Mortal Instruments series.
What I liked about the book: The author does a good job of recreating Victorian England. Tessa, the heroine grows more independent as the book unfolds. The universe Clare has created is more fleshed out, the factions of human, demon, vampire and angel are more fully explored.
What I did not like: I felt the plot felt contrived. I was not surprised by who the villain turned out to be. The characters seemed to be transposed out of The Mortal Instruments series.
