Emilie yes, i think that you'll like this one, dave. it's a victorian gothic, so you have to be in the mood for victorian. the form is journals by two women. i think that you'll really like the plot of it, and that it's about spiritualists and it's very atmospheric and dark.

i LOVED the first 2/3, though i thought the last third dragged a bit once i'd figured out the mysteries...but it's so well written, i loved that it felt so vivid to me, that it stopped me analysing and thinking and i just fell so into the storyworld. i love Sarah Waters. if you like Oliver Twist, then i think you'll love Fingersmith too. i had such a crush on the artful dodger when i was younger! (grins)

David It sounds like a good Halloween read, Emilie. I didn't know that this was a TV series as well.

As for the crush, well, at least it wasn't Fagin!
