The best overall biography of the Beach Boys, bar none. Carlin stays objective and tells the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the band's history without sacrificing the details of the music and its creation. Many Beach Boys books are a bit black and white but Catch a Wave shows there's quite a bit of gray area to be found.
