I love the way McGarrity incorpurates so many New Mexican points of scenery and culture. His heroes are thoughtful, loving, and although tough, they are not mean-spirited or overly violent. His biggest flaw is he winds things up very quickly. I often have to go back and reread the ending, because it happens so quick and unexpectedly that the reader can miss it.
