liked it

columbine, katrina, suffragists, drug addiction....this book address them all and then some. i enjoyed his prior novels, but this was just a bit too much. and he has this tendency? to end his sentences with question marks? i guess its a way to make it seem like the narrator is speaking directly to the reader? to create a sense of immediacy? again, too much. the novel is so loaded with strife and tragedy that the effect of the denouement is relief rather that catharsis.
