I had a blast reading this book. It starts off innocuously enough and I’m all geared up to read something that is familiar – that is cliched until all of a sudden, we veer off in a different direction altogether. It is definitely refreshing because the popular, pretty sister is hardly ever picked to be the heroine of a book where Fairy Godmothers come in handy – that might be stretching it a bit though. If I had any criticisms about this book, it would be that the fairy godmother was just so unlikeable. I don’t know if there’s going to be a series but I definitely felt that her story was left unresolved. How could there not be any poetic justice? That aside though, this was a fun read.

Heroes, heroines, villains, even dragons. Ms. Rallison has fun thumbing her nose at some of the stereotypes where fairy tales and their heroines are concerned and I really appreciated the fresh perspective with which she approached the genre. So it’s a good read. I recommend it.
