Gregor has once again been summoned to the Underland, and this time he is taking his mother! That's right...he has to take Boots and his mother. This time he has to resolve the prophesy of the Curse of the Warmbloods. This curse comes in the form of a plague that leaves great pustules on the skin that are filled with blood. This plague is brought by fleas, and soon after coming to the Underland; Gregor's mother is bitten and soon contracts the dreaded sickness.
This sends Gregor and Boots on a dangerous quest during which they meet long lost Luxa, the best friend of Gregor and girl queen of Regalia. She had been presumed dead when she was lost during a battle in the Curse of Bane. There are a host of others as well.
I really likeed this book just as much as the others. His mother seemed an overprotective nusance when she followed Gregor down to the "meeting" that Gregor is to have with Vikus. That quickly changes after she is bitten by a flea and contracts the plague.
I really loves the fact that Gregor doesn't spend as much time pining for his mother. This was one of the drawbacks of the first book. Instead, he uses the concern that he feels for those he loves to spur him into action.
I loved this book!
