(re-read 11/09: not my favorite. sara and jefferey seem to hate each other too much but still stay - and i wonder why. again, the parallels between sara and jeff's relationship versus lena and ethan's seems to be a question of degree - and emotional versus physical abuse. i definitely loved the stuff between lena and terri, and the things that lena had to deal with because of that. the mystery itself was fairly predictable and easily guessed, but again, her strong point is her characters and getting you to care about them, so i would say slaughter still succeeded.

i want tessa to be happy and normal, though. i don't want her drawn into this messy world of her sister. i don't know why, except that i loved tessa from day one, being a plumber and dating a black man. she's just . . . yeah.

also, seriously getting irritated with sara at this point and kind of get where lena's coming from - i think sara would have died knowing how lena and terri first knew each other. at this point dude, adopt! stop wallowing.

it's hard for me because i know what happens in the next two installments of the series, and i just want lena to get better. i love lena and her broken self, and i really just want her to find some peace. somehow. some way. sigh.)
