Surprisingly I quite enjoyed this book. I have been told that this novel is depressing, and that the characters were stupid. I didn't find it that way at all. Yes it't a bit dark but not depressing.

I felt compassion for Heathcliff and Catherine and their romance. At times I thought they were being silly and they were a bit dramatic about their romance. In reality both should have moved on with their lives or sought counselling. However this is a story, reading novels about people who aren't in extreme circumstances would be boring. What if Harry Potter didn't turn out to be a wizard or if Becky Bloomwood only kind of liked shopping?

Anyway I liked it and I believe in the end that Catherine and Heathcliff found their happy ending.
