3.5 - .ePub

I have been meaning to read this book for a while as the concept sounded so intriguing and it was also recommended by my new GR friend Ria. I swallowed the first 200 pages in one sitting. It is a very easy read - not patronising in it's simplicity as some YA is but more so a smooth ride. At that point it unfortunately moved from 4 stars to 3.5 for me. The mysteries in the book are so obviously worked out I felt a little cheated. We go 'round the wrekin' more times than I care to recall and the blatant suggestion got tiresome. That said the male lead was fascinating and Yelena had backbone despite her misfortune. The author dangled fairly appetising carrots in front of us throughout the story which will make me reach for book 2.......when I fancy carrot.

message 1: by Meg ♥ (new) - added it

Meg ♥ Actually I recommended Touch Of Power which is a different series from Maria V. Snyder. It probably wouldn't matter anyway, because I haven't read Poison Study, but I hear that the series are quite similar so you probably would like them about the same amount. :-) I'm only clarifying this because I didn't want you to think I'm some idiot that recommended a book I haven't even rated lol

Leyoh No, I'm the idiot who clearly doesn't read!! I must have been half asleep, so sorry. Adding Touch of Power - I liked it but wished she would just get to the point. Her writing style is nice and clean, a good break in between epics.
