I was a little disappointed by this book, but not for a fair reason. When the librarian was handing out books at the end of story time, I thought this one would be great for us since Natalie liked Llama Llama Red Pajama and she has separation anxiety. But, it turns out this was really a going to school book. And while poor, sad llama is endearing, I was more looking for a llama freak out like in the first book that was more like Natalie. I also thought more time would be spent on llama's feelings versus what there is to do at school. That said, it is a great starting school book, especially for the ones particularly attached to mama. Great illustrations, with fun details like mama llama's pink purse. Llama's loneliness is portrayed very gently, but firmly, and the reader feels sorrier and sorrier for him as the story goes on.
