I can't exactly put my finger on why, but I don't like this series as much as I've liked most of Westerfeld's other books. It's steampunk, has a strong female main character and has amazing world building, so there's a lot to like. But I'm still not that excited about it. I think part of it is inconsistent pacing. Some parts just seemed to drag on (I did a lot more skimming with Leviathan and Behemoth than I normally do). I'll probably pick up the next one in the series just to see how things turn out for Dylan/Deryn and Alek. And I also want to find out more about the perspicacious lorins.

Katie Bruce Thanks! I couldn't figure out why I'm not liking this series much either, but your comment about inconsistent pacing makes a lot of sense. So, thanks! :-)
